civic service through its president, Thomas G. Pye, Esquire, and includes or has included the following:

Member of the Fair Housing Board:
Mr. Pye proudly served on the board, appointed by a member of the Board of the County Commission. In 1990 the Palm Beach County Commission declared it to be the policy of the board of county commissioners in the exercise of its police power for the public safety, public health, and general welfare to assure, within constitutional limitations, equal opportunity to all persons to live in available housing facilities regardless of race, sex, color, religion, national origin, handicap, familial status, sexual orientation, age or marital status, and, to that end, to prohibit discrimination in housing by any person. It was also declared to be the policy of the board of county commissioners in the exercise of its police power for public safety, public health and general welfare to assure, within constitutional limitations, equal opportunity to all persons, regardless of race, sex, color, religion, national origin, handicap, familial status, sexual orientation, age or marital status to participate in the full and equal enjoyment of the goods, services, facilities, privileges, advantages and accommodations of a place of public accommodation. As a result they established the Fair Housing Board and Mr. Pye was appointed a member of the board and served during the mid to late 1990's, he resigned his position in order to relocate to Gainesville, Florida and Alachua County. When he relocated to Gainesville, he gave up his residence in Palm Beach County.
Member of the Equal Employment Board:
In 1995 the Palm Beach County Commission said that it shall be the policy of the board of county commissioners, in the exercise of its police power for the public safety, public health, and general welfare to assure, within constitutional limitations, that all persons regardless of race, color, sex, national origin, religion, age, disability, familial status, marital status or sexual orientation as defined by Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 as amended, the Civil Rights Act of 1991, the Equal Pay Act of 1963, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967, as amended, the Rehabilitation Act, the Americans With Disabilities Act of 1990, the Florida Civil Rights Act or otherwise provided herein, be afforded equal opportunity to all terms and conditions of employment. Palm Beach County shall take all necessary and reasonable action to prevent discrimination in employment. Mr. Pye was appointed to serve on this board in the late 1990's, he resigned his position in order to relocate to Gainesville Florida.
Human Rights Council:
Mr. Pye served on this community board in Palm Beach. The Human Rights Council is dedicated to ending discrimination. The council promotes equality through education, advocacy, direct action, impact litigation, and community outreach.
Red Cross:
This annual event in Boca Raton was co-chaired by Mr. Pye. The event has often been held at the prestigious Boca Raton Resort and Club, it raises substantial monetary contributions for the South Palm Beach County Branch office of the Palm Beach County Red Cross that originally opened in 1970 in Delray Beach to serve the Boca Raton, Delray and Boynton Beach areas. Initially staffed solely by volunteers, today it employs staff members who join the approximately 1,000 volunteers to provide the programs and services in the tri-city area of the Red Cross.
Alzheimer's Association Royal Purple Society:
Mr. Pye served in the capacity as president of this fundraising arm at the local level. The Alzheimer's Association, now a $200-million organization has been the indispensable catalyst, convener, partner, facilitator, consultant and leader in a generation of rapid progress in Alzheimer research and care. Most importantly, our achievements, and the accelerating progress in the field, have had a positive impact on people's lives and brought hope for millions more.
Past Board Member of the Advisory Board for the College of Public Health and Health Professions at the University of Florida, Gainesville:
Mr. Pye served on this fundraising and advisory board for The College of Public Health and Health Professions which is one of the largest and most diversified health education institutions in the nation. Established in 1958, the college was a prototype for health professions education and the first college of its kind located within a health center. The college took another innovative step in 2003 when it expanded its offerings to include public health programs. The combination of the population emphasis inherent to public health with the college's long-term focus on the management of chronic health conditions creates a powerful model.
Advisory Board Member of The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Florida, Gainesville:
Mr. Pye serves as a member of the advisory and development counsel for the college. As a public institution, the College serves society through its research programs to advance knowledge and capabilities, through its teaching to prepare tomorrow's leaders, and through its outreach programs to ensure dissemination of the state of the art in areas ranging from languages and literatures, to social behaviors, to the fundamental laws of nature. The College captures the brightest ideals of intellectual inquiry and human values mirrored in society, and remains ever conscious that it must represent and reflect all segments of society to remain the intellectual core of the university.
Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Department of Psychology at the University of Florida, Gainesville:
Mr. Pye was appointed Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Department of Psychology at the University of Florida, Gainesville in 2003. Initially the goal was to promote outreach and to raise funds for the construction of an addition to the existing psychology building on the campus of the University of Florida. As goals change the direct mission statement of the Department serves as the goal of the board as well. The Department of Psychology at the University of Florida is dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in the generation of psychological science and to its application and dissemination.
