The Pye Law Firm, P.A. is lead by shareholder Thomas G. Pye. Mr. Pye became a member of the Florida Bar in 1982.
Mr. Pye was born in New York in 1957. He grew up on Long Island where he was educated in the public schools of
Plainview, New York. Plainview was a typical bedroom community for many people who worked in New York City. WWII
vets and their families who became known as "baby boomers" populated it. Plainview was just a typical suburban
community that provided exposure for its citizens to recreation opportunities, great education and cultural diversity.
In 1974, Mr. Pye's family relocated to the state of Florida, where they settled in the Fort Lauderdale area. He finished his senior year of high school and prepared for entry into college. It was about this time that Mr. Pye was accepted into the freshmen class at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida, located in Alachua County, in the North Central Florida area.
Mr. Pye majored in Psychology at the University of Florida, with a minor in English and Political Science. He earned high grades and graduated in 1979 earning a Bachelors Degree. It was at this time that he entered law school at the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University in Macon, Georgia.
Upon gradation from Mercer Law, Mr. Pye relocated to South Florida to begin his legal career. He took the
Florida Bar exam in 1982 and passed right away. He already had begun his career by clerking for Miami-Dade County
Circuit Judge Fredericka G. Smith in the criminal division of the circuit court in and for the 11th Judicial Circuit.
Eventually, Judge Smith rotated into Circuit Civil, and Mr. Pye received further legal experience in that realm of the
law.
Mr. Pye took his first position as an attorney in 1983 as an associate in a general practice firm in the Fort Lauderdale area of South Florida. It was there at that position that he cut his legal teeth on legal issues involving several areas of the law including business law, corporate law, partnership law, limited liability company law, development law, real estate law, bankruptcy law, wills, estates, trusts, probate, trust administration, formal administration of estates and trusts etc.
In 1985 Mr. Pye ventured out on his own and opened his own law firm that he called "Thomas G. Pye, PA". He opened the doors of the new firm in Boca Raton, Palm Beach County and primarily focused on involving himself in several areas of the law including business, corporate, partnerships, limited liability companies, development, real estate, bankruptcy, wills, estates, trusts, probate, trust administration, formal administration of estates and trusts etc.
In 1990 he merged his firm into a leading AV rated multifaceted law firm in Boca Ration where he continued to focus on several areas of the law including the aforementioned areas of business, corporate, partnerships, limited liability companies, development, real estate, bankruptcy, wills, estates, trusts, probate, trust administration, formal administration of estates and trusts etc. However it was at this time that Mr. Pye was presented the opportunity to add commercial litigation to his experience. These were high-powered multi-million dollar scale litigation suits. He excelled at his ability to litigate and to formulate arguments before the courts of Dade County, Broward County and Palm Beach County. It was also at this time that Mr. Pye became a member of both of the Federal District courts that service the South Florida (east and west) areas. He joined the United States District Court in and for the Southern District of Florida Bar as a member as well as the United States District Court in and for the Middle District of Florida Bar as a member. During his tenure at this high profile firm, he was designated the firm's hiring partner and worked closely with the firm's associates.
In 1996, Mr. Pye desired to redirect his efforts again, back to his roots, to focus on individuals and small businesses. He opened the Pye Law Firm, PA in Fort Lauderdale. At the same time he became involved in many community activities including issues pertaining to Fair Housing and Human Rights issues. He also became more and more involved with his Alma Mater, the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida.
The Pye Law Firm, PA handles numerous kinds of legal matters and a very diverse clientele addressing all kinds of areas of the law including but not limited to business law, corporate law, partnership law, limited liability companies, development law, real estate law, bankruptcy (Chapter 7 and Chapter 13), wills, estates, trusts, probate, trust administration, as well as the formal administration of estates and trusts.
As Mr. Pye became more involved with his Alma Mater, the University of Florida; he was spending more and more time in Gainesville, Florida. It became evident that it would be wise to expand the Pye Law Firm, PA. to the Gainesville area. It was in 2001 that the Pye Law Firm, PA opened its office in Gainesville, Florida. Again, the areas of the law he focused on in the North Central Florida Area include business, corporate, partnerships, limited liability companies, development, real estate, bankruptcy, wills, estates, trusts, probate, trust administration, formal administration of estates and trusts etc.
The Gainesville, Florida office of the Pye Law Firm, PA became the headquarters of the law firm. In 2001 Mr. Pye joined the United States District Court of the Northern District of Florida Bar as a member. In addition soon thereafter he became a board member of the Northern District of Florida Bankruptcy Bar Association. Since relocating his home to Gainesville, Mr. Pye has become the Chairman of the Advisory Board for the Department of Psychology at the University of Florida. He was honored as Outstanding Alumnus and given the 2004 Award given by the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences for that achievement. He accepted a position on the Development Counsel for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences in 2004. Since 2004 Mr. Pye has been an Adjunct Professor at the University of Florida.
Mr. Pye personally assists all of his clients. He takes on no case or client unless he personally meets with them and assists them from start to finish. It is this personal professional service that has kept Mr. Pye interested in all aspects of all client's cases. He knows them all by name, and all telephone calls are personally answered or returned.
